Goodbye

Hi all, we are out of town, staying at Elsewhere in Greensboro, NC. This place is kind of crazy. It is an old thrift store completely packed with stuff. We are drinking lots of coffee, helping out with some stuff, rearranging things at our leisure, setting up an installation, and trying (as always) to find some meaning in the chaos. I feel like I should write something about the layered organizational schemes, collaboration between artists, cooperative living, and so forth but I’m not really sure how I feel about it yet.

…on my current activities before I get back to work. So, after finishing the shirts, I went out to Charlotte to pick up my brother, get a massage, and go out on the town for a little bit (thanks Jen, it was a lot of fun). Then we came back here for Make Day. I’d have to say that despite the rain, Make Day was pretty successful. I worked on some canvas grocery bags for our Earth Day celebration coming up on Saturday (April 19). I’ll be out at Hatcher Garden during the day with them and they will also be available at the Trashion Show (at The Showroom) that night (I will also be DJing this event).
I took the opportunity, while Matt was here to go out to the mountains (we went hiking one day and mountain biking the next). I wish I had been able to make it out to the mountains more while I was here (they are awe inspiring) but so goes the life of the artist-in-residence I suppose.
We’ve been trying to do a bunch of the things that we had originally planned for before our time here is up but there is way too much.
Anyway, I’m working on finishing up the grocery bags for Saturday and then Derya and I are doing installations in the storefront windows in front of the blood bank (that will hopefully be up on Monday).

I just finished the new Hub-Bub shirts….there are only 24 of them and they will be available for the first time at Make Day on Saturday (at the space that used to be Cafe Ishi). YAY!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nI\’m also working on some one-of-a-kind canvas bags for Earth Day. These are still in progress but I thought I could put up a preview.\r\n\r\n
\r\n\r\nAlso, my brother is in Charlotte right now. I\’m going up tomorrow to hang out and bring him back to Spartanburg.

I ran into my sculpture the other day (while carrying a pedestal)and broke it. Its totally fixable (and I’m in the process of fixing it) but until then, enjoy these pictures of it:

These two pieces are meant to relate to the explosion pieces that I’ve been working on. Essentially, they are mix tapes I made and then coated (one in wax and the other in salt crystals).

I printed these for the show but the paper didn’t hold up for my mounting method so these only exist in cyberspace:
